1/22/2024 0 Comments Reaktor 6 carbon 2The oscillator section produces the instrument’s basic signal. Several modulation sources such as envelope generators and LFOs (placed in a second page in the right panel column) and the global parameters (a third page in the right column) control the sound, adding additional liveliness and movement. The signal of the three oscillator section (left column of the panel) passes through a multi-mode filter (middle column) and is then routed to the effect units (right column). The panel has been optimized for usability, with a clear structure providing fast access to all parameters while hiding the technical complexity.īasically, Carbon2 is a classical subtractive synthesizer. In particular the oscillators and filters are now based on Reaktor Core components developed particularly for this instrument. It’s an awesome bundle of modules that’s a great way to get started in modular. And then a load of utility modules that mix CVs, clock stuff, trigger stuff and brings it all together. There are 11 modules from Bento Box which give you the main meat of your modular – oscillator, VCA, ADSR, LFO, mixer, sequencer and so on. There are 35 preset racks and some tutorial racks to take you through your first bits of patching. It’s a suite of 24 modules which is enough to build your own synthesizers and audio processors. But let’s check out the new Blocks versions. I’m sure there are a load of other improvements which you can read about here if you wish, including a surprisingly useful Welcome Screen. ![]() Patch an LFO or other modulators to port A or B and then choose how much of any or all parameters you want to modulate. Modulation is handled quite nicely in that you get two modulation ports per module. So too does the “hide wires” button because once you start patching they do tend to get in the way – but we like that! They’ve added a very handy “Quick Search” box for finding modules and adding them to your rack without having to search through the browser. The In and Out “ports” appear on either side of the module which helps in keeping the patch cables in order. This makes so much sense and connects you to Blocks in a much more intuitive and visually pleasing way. Reaktor 6.3 brings in the idea of a “Rack” and within a rack you can now patch the Blocks modules together from the front panel rather than dropping to the scary ensemble structure environment that still sits behind the scenes. 1/22/2024 0 Comments Call of duty 2 mulitplayerIt’s not really a case that there’s anything here you haven’t seen before, but have you seen it done so well? Probably not.Īdmittedly, the game does rather lead you by the nose. Later on there are also some enjoyable if short-lived episodes of tank-to-tank combat, some great skirmishes in North African towns, and a spot of really-extreme rock climbing. One minute you might be pushing Nazi forces back through the streets of Stalingrad, the next you’re infiltrating a contested station through a narrow pipeline, shrinking back as bullets riddle the metal, the shafts of light marking how near you came to death. ![]() Call of Duty 2 throws enemies thick and fast at you, yet it never feels as one-note repetitive as F.E.A.R. Call of Duty 2 effortlessly manages what Medal of Honor has tried to do for years, and what Quake 4 tried desperately to replicate on planet Strogg: create a fast-paced, cinematic experience of warfare that never lets up for a second. Listen, learn, then race in and give those Nazis the thrashing they deserve.īut neither the graphics nor the sound would make this a great game if it all wasn’t so brilliantly orchestrated. Where in most shooters, your comrades seem to add in comment just to keep things lively, here they actually say sensible things. Also, let’s not forget the magnificent surging score, kicking in just when things need a boost, then dropping out to let you concentrate on the action. If the crack and whiz of passing gunfire is at least disconcerting, the rumble of oncoming tanks is the stuff small children’s nightmares are made of. ![]() Then once the bullets start flying it gives your speakers the best workout they have ever had. and Half-Life 2 in the ambient atmosphere stakes, from the pounding of artillery in the background to the German propaganda broadcasts in the Stalingrad missions. Call of Duty 2 is right up there with F.E.A.R. When a tank rolls over the trench you’re cowering in, or the planes come screaming overhead, you cannot help but be amazed by the sheer spectacle of it all. ![]() The way your vision blurs when taking bullets is probably my single, favourite visual effect of the year. In its best moments – the icy wreckage of the Stalingrad apartment blocks, frantic skirmishes in a desert bunker – Call of Duty 2 has an almost physical feel to it. Call of Duty 2 looks good in screenshots, but to really understand it you have to see it in motion: the smoke drifting through the stunning detailed environments the troops half-running, half-crawling from cover to cover the way the dynamic lighting illuminates details and textures on the uniforms. Of course, a lot of its success is to do with the visuals, and you are going to need a beefy system to do it justice, but this is one of those games where the game experience would be unimaginable without the graphics, and the graphics would just be eye-candy without the game experience they’re used to create. 1/22/2024 0 Comments Dsr texture packer![]() Thanks guys, I'm really pleased with the results, it's taken me a long time to get to a point where I'm happy with how it looks and feels. Thanks for looking, I hope this may inspire people that haven't already to give DSR a go - especially other users of big-screens, I have a feeling the effect wouldn't be quite so drastic on smaller HD screens. Yosemite going the other way, this time taken from the back seat, just to be safe!! Yosemite from the front seat of the T45-Goshawk, doing around 410 knots, luckily the valley ahead was clear so I took my chance of a shot!! The clarity of the cockpit gauges is amazing to see on the big-screen, and when the cockpit lights are turned on, the lighting seems to have a new luminescence previously unseen on the samsung setup. ![]() maybe it's just me, but the clarity of basic fsx on a big screen is almost like a forbidden pleasure!!ĭefault Cessna 208, early evening, I believe this is somewhere in the vicinity of KEUG near the towns of Eugene and Springfield, Oregon. The first shot was paused I think, but the two shots of Dino Cattaneo's wonderful freeware Goshawk creating havoc down Frank's amazing Yosemite Valley were live action, at around 380-400 knots. My FSX cfg doesn't have any tweaks except Texture Size to 2048, LOD 6.5, frames locked at 33.Īs you may be able to tell from the shots, the text size shrinkage is a quirk of using DSR to artificially 'change' to the higher resolution, and that shrinkage affects gps and maps, but as I'm using a second computer to run Plan-G and Skyvector that side of it doesn't affect me.Īll shots are straight 'V' with nothing changed. Just to tighten things up, I've also added into nvidia control panel 16x anisotrophic, (though I'm not sure that is even needed, it just felt like I ought to still be tweaking something!!), plus just a mere 2x AA, the Texture Filtering to High Quality, Triple buffering is On, and that is it - no vsync, no nvidia inspector. In all honesty, when I loaded a test flight (which isn't pictured) set in yosemite valley, in a thunderstorm, at dusk, with frames unlimited, and watched my fraps counter hit 50, 60, 70, 80, 100 and more, with a crispness and clarity I'd never seen before on the big screen, I quite literally fell off my chair laughing with joy!!Īfter a while of simply staring at the screen in disbelief, and becoming aware of what sounded like my graphics card screaming for mercy, I played it safe and dialled down the frame settings, so the last two pictures show that I'm currently locked internally in fsx at a nice steady smooth-as-silk 33, which should do for pretty much any scenario I'm likely to use. I'm really hoping the pictures look as good here as they do on my 40" screen. selected in fsx the newly offered screen resolution size of 3840x2160x32, and then obviously had to exit to reset my cfg file with texture size to 2048 and LOD radius to 6.5000 I installed the recent nvidia drivers 344.48, and without really understanding how it works but simply going off something I'd read somewhere, I opted to dive in head first and set DSR at 4x (3840x2160) and Smoothness to 10%įired up FSX, without nvidia inspector, and initially with no other changes to the nvidia control panel, just DSR 4x, Smoothness 10%, everything else was left at the default. ![]() And yes, it is a great experience being close up to a large screen, but I was seriously considering going back to a smaller screen for the clarity and crispness I missed.īut then yesterday, everything changed!!. But the haziness of such a large screen at 1920 x 1080 takes a little getting used to.Īfter spending a couple of months configuring my new rig and constantly playing with settings and tweaks, with Nvidia Inspector set per Nick's bible, and also playing with various combinations of locked frames, unlimited frames, different tv settings and fsx config lod and texture adjustments, I'd kind of settled on what seemed to be the best it could be. The immersion is great, no question about it. For a few weeks now I've run my FSX setup through a samsung 40inch tv. ![]() Please read the full Community Rules.Hey everyone, hope life is good for you all. No AI-generated content or artwork.ĥ.) It’s all been lessons, and everybody’s got their lessons to learn. “As for me, if I’d have known better, I’d have done better. In the book I Need to Know: The Lost Music Interviews, Mason reflected on this and other serious career bumps. Label boss Bob Krasnow discovered “safety” copies in the studio vault and had the incomplete album released as Headkeeper, without the artist’s knowledge or permission.Īgain, the songs are really, really good – “Here We Go Again,” “In My Mind,” “Headkeeper.” At the time, Mason publicly disowned the album and urged his fans not to buy it. Things reached an impasse, and an indignant Mason made off with the master tapes of what had already been recorded for the project. While cutting what would turn out to be his second album, Mason attempted to re-negotiate his contract with Blue Thumb Records. ![]() This 1971 album is an underappreciated gem. Elliot has just one solo lead vocal, but several of Mason’s songs, “Walk to the Point” and “To Be Free,” are as good as those on Alone Together. He’s the Where’s Waldo of rock ‘n’ roll’s golden age. His singular talent as a singer, guitarist and song craftsman were introduced to the world with 1970’s Alone Together, a stunning tour de force that led the charge for a string of successful albums through that decade.ĭespite only having one significant radio hit – we’ll get to that in a minute – Mason, through sheer force of talent, has been touring pretty much nonstop since those early days. Mason’s career as a solo artist began in 1969, after he’d left England for America and became running buddies with the Southern California musician crowd – Crosby, Stills, Nash et cetera. He wrote their first single, “Hole in My Shoe,” and their most famous early song, “Feelin’ Alright.” So yes, he deserved the induction. So strong was the impact and legacy of that British outfit that Mason was inducted alongside longtime Traffic directors Steve Winwood and Jim Capaldi despite the fact that he was only in the band for the 1967 debut album and its followup (Traffic itself continued for decades afterwards). Dave Mason, who plays Clearwater’s Capitol Theatre Saturday, joined the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004, as a founding member of the band Traffic. 1/22/2024 0 Comments Onn projector specsGreat picture quality, but they're well beyond what we usually test. Above $3,000 there's a big jump in picture quality again, and from there the sky's the limit. Spending more gets you incremental improvements. They're not as bright, but they're great for their intended use. Some highly portable and battery-powered models are far less. Less than that usually requires a compromise of some kind. How much should you spend?: $1,000 is the sweet spot with projectors, where you can get great picture quality and brightness. A claimed 2,000 lumen projector is probably brighter than a 500 lumen projector, but 1,500 and 1,700 lumen projectors are probably the same. But the specs are largely divorced from reality. Companies claim million-to-one contrast ratios, insane brightness ratings, and even more. ![]() For mixed-use rooms where it'll be hard or impossible to totally control the ambient light, or if you want an outdoor movie night with an image the size of the side of your house, one that prioritizes light output will be better, because the contrast ratio won't be as noticeable. Where are you using it?: For light controlled rooms and home theaters, a projector with a high contrast ratio is better than one that prioritizes light output. However, a brighter projector will be easier to see with some lights on, and can create an even bigger image. A projector with a great contrast ratio but only average light output is going to look better than the opposite. Even so, there's a wide range of picture quality even among projectors of a similar price. Want a TV that's 100-inches or more? Only a projector can do that, if you're not ultrarich. However, they largely make up for it with absolutely massive images. ![]() Using the BenQ LK953ST model projector projecting a 100-inch image as an example, its vertical shift has a range of 60% (60% of the height of the image) while the horizontal shift has a range of 23% (23% of the image width), as seen in the image below.Picture quality: Projectors lag behind TVs when it comes to overall picture quality. Most projectors feature hardware controls on the projector itself that allow users to perform the lens shift function, while some high-end projectors allow you to use the lens shift function via electronic controls or the remote control. Its vertical shift allows the projector’s lens to shift in order to move the image up or down, while its horizontal shift allows the lens to move the image left or right. Because of all this lens shift is a must-have feature for projectors. A lot of the time the projected image will fall either above or to the side of the screen, while trying to perfectly center the image on the screen solely by means of moving or adjusting the projector itself hardly ever works. ![]() You can find out how to avoid them below.įor most users it’s quite difficult to get the projected image to be perfectly centered on the screen during the installation process.
